On why you can meet people emerging somewhere in town who are either pretty, handsome or intelligent* or a combo of those grandest physical assets.
If anyone is really puzzled why a small, relatively remote town of Maco produces some competitive brains and/or beauties comparative with those who are born and raised in some metropolis elsewhere, then all he need to know about the spellbinding factors that triggered this phenomena is to observe the town’s past and its underlying environment that has gone along with it.
Environment
At a glance, Maco encompassed a whole range of landscapes where you can see mountains picturesque on your back, low and midlands to your sideways and seaside right in front to your face. Coupled with relative calm shielded from worst natural calamities, the town is highly conducive to raising an ideal rural family**. Thus the town’s environments was essentially inviting for those who wanted to settle for a rural environment.
No one had really seen or currently hold some artefacts — either in memory or in painting — how the earliest town settlers really looked like or how good their cognitive faculties were due to the apparent lacked of preservation technologies to remind us of their faces and their exploits. But there is strong evidence that a few of those who were fascinated to live for good were those in one way or another had some degree of inter-relationship with foreign blood and they gave the first promise of sowing the early good mixture***.
Then one incident forever changed the face of Maco, not just the landscape, or the economy or life but the increase of head-turner faces and brains the town has produced. In the 60′s until its demise in the late 70′s, a large company began its operation right in the heart of town . Gone where the silence the people usually associates the night with sleep. Many people ignored the disturbance and savour instead the constant flow of cash to their wallet that make them quite familiar in the surrounding town and nearby city.
What is the significance of a huge operational company to the significant rise in numbers of beauties and brains in town? Truth of the matter is, beauty and brain need the right balance between inheritance, wealth and family mixtures to sustain them. Whereas brain is always highly valued both in the industry and in the community, beauty is only brushed aside as somewhat trivial in the sense of real worth. But as shown in the dynamics of contributing factors, beauty is not superficial as many other tried to brush it aside as less important or a trivial physical entity as this often requires massive amount of effort of parents to protect and nurture it hoping that it can be delicately handled as its intent to be deserved.
A company providing good salary and balance of family life are a superbly good recipes to maintain physical and mental attributes. But the major factor was the initial haul the company enticed people who’re either well-physically built and well-mentally nurtured to work in the town. Word of the mouth spread like wildfire to many communities in the Mindanao region lured by a good promised of job. Many of those who mastered a good craft about themselves and were available upon hearing the news flow freely to the town up to its uneventful demise.
Meanwhile, many people who had the best head assets thrive in town that’s gone with the influx of new settlers with pretty faces. As part of their growth in numbers, they helped the way how education of the young was implemented. Private and public schools helped greatly those who were basically had the need of constant inputs of developmental training.
It is a well known fact that those who lacked the genes can make up the deficiency through effective and efficient training with which if none of their childhood motivation continue to uphold them up to their university studies, they can relatively compete with the best in the world upon graduation and beyond. Maconian training’s both in the private and public school nowadays and then never wavered to that principle and many people who finished with flying colors or sustained on their studies in college/university can only look back the great value of town education they had once savored and enjoyed at the same time while in elementary and high school.
Livelihood – 80′s and beyond
The town’s landscape and economy nurture the physical and mental assets of its people. The town dense population in the midland especially those concentrated in the town proper and its surrounding areas provides only little chance for agriculture and livestock farming to flourish and most people’s jobs were spread across commerce, government employees and private enterprises. There were far a number or tillable and arable lands but their sizes do not significantly measure up to those of the non-agricultural jobs.
A job in agriculture or in livestock especially on the labor aspect has all the tendencies in the world to destroy a fair skin or a cognitive faculty of the brain. Frequent sun exposure and frequent heavy labor if unabated will tone town a beautiful face and/or intelligent mind. For every sweat that flows in one’s eyebrow, it spells a weary face that should have been nurtured with right amount of protective care to maintain the fine contour. Likewise, the brain need constant prodding of intricate challenges to make it grow and develop and the energy spent on heavy labor sap the mind of its intended juices for it to grow and develop. Those who had the worst form of laborious jobs that span until the wee hour of night were the unluckiest to see the dawn of their mental development stage.
But maconians were lucky people that very few of those raised in the rural family were spared of the heavy manual labor thus provided them the opportunities to cherish their refined facial contour brought by inheritance. But the concept of beauty also spared the children of the impending damage if heavily exposed to the sun. Some parents carry more burden just to spare their children of an extra labor so they can concentrate on their studies hoping that their pretty faces will be shielded under the heat of the sun once they’re already working in a sheltered offices with cool air-conditioned too refreshing to their skin.
The rise of cosmetics
Fair complexion is associated with beauty and when affordable products began to spread through advertisement and word of the mouth, many teenage rage badly to get hold of them. The result was really that immediate that even young who thought they never really had the chance to look fair has now their opportunities opened wide for them. Cosmetics has their share of making some town folks somewhat presentable according to the general concept of beauty.
